TRANSPORTATION
U.S. Highways 82 and 425, and State Highways 2 and 133 access the city. Crossett supports a municipal airport with a 5,100-foot runway. Commercial airport services are available 50 miles south at the Monroe, Louisiana Regional Airport. Water transportation is accessible on the Ouachita River, six miles west of town. Rail transportation and motor freight carriers also serve the area.
INDUSTRY
Spreading over 800 acres, the
Georgia-Pacific Crossett manufacturing complex is one of the largest such facilities in the world. It is the largest industrial complex in Arkansas. Some of the world's finest paper products for envelopes, tablets, food packing, bond and offset and produced right here in Crossett. Angel Soft, Quilted Northern and Sparkle are a few of the easily recognized names of products from the tissue production. Coated carton and cup stock are also produced. The Crossett Plywood Plant is the largest Southern Pine plywood facility in the world. Crossett is the corporation's largest chemical complex, with a resin plant and tall oil plant.
Other major manufacturers include Bemis Company producing multi-wall and small paper bags; Smurfit Stone Container producing paper tubes and cores; Shipping Systems producing inflatable disposable bags;
and AREZ LLC, producing resin for the printing ink industry (start-up scheduled
for November 2011).
SCHOOLS
The
Crossett Public Schools serves 2,013 students in grades
PK through 12, with North Central Accreditation district-wide. Below are

MEDICAL
Crossett is home to
Ashley County Medical Center, a state-of-the
art hospital. The
medical staff at ACMC includes specialists in ear, nose and throat; emergency medicine, family practice, internal medicine, OB/Gyn, radiology and surgery. Services offered include bone density, CT, emergency services, geropsych, home health care, inpatient care, laboratory, mammography, MRI, nuclear medicine, OB/Gyn, occupational therapy, outpatient surgery, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, ultrasound and a wellness center.
